Solar Offset

Today is a good day to charge your electric car!

Solar Production Forecast

The 10-day forecast of your solar yields is based on the production data of your solar system recorded by your Tesla Gateway. The predicted weather conditions at the location of the system and the time of year are currently taken into account.

Solar Offset Forecast

The 10-day forecast of your potential offset is the difference between the production forecast and the consumption forecast. If positive, it is a good day for charging your electric car! The daily forecast is then displayed in your iPhone's primary color (defaults to blue). The app currently uses the difference between the median of your production and the median of your consumption. This means that in the past, on days with these weather conditions and this daily maximum temperature, you had a PV surplus 50% of the time.

Power Consumption Forecast

The 10-day forecast of your power consumption is also based on the data recorded by your Tesla Gateway. The predicted temperatures at the location of the system are taken into account. If you use a Tesla Wall Connector as a wallbox, power used for charging is removed from this calculation.

About the charts

The forecasts are displayed as box plot charts (a.k.a. box-whisker plots). The line in the middle indicates the median of the daily measurements used. The box shows where 50% of these daily measurements were. And the "whiskers" show the maximum range. In this way, the distribution of the recorded values matching the predicted weather can be visualized quite well.

 FAQ

  • The app currently uses exclusively the Tesla Fleet AP to access the solar production and power consumption history. A Tesla Powerwall or a Tesla Gateway are therefore necessary. However, please let us know which system you have and we will check whether an integration could be possible in the future: kontakt@sonne-und-haben.de

  • We send the location of your system from the app to Apple to obtain the local weather data. The weather and energy data are processed and stored only locally on your device.

  • If the recordings lack days with the predicted weather conditions in the current time of year, a forecast is unfortunately not yet possible.

  • Tap the "Sign In" button in the "My Tesla products" section of the settings.

  • Apple released a preview of iOS 18 on June 10, 2024 and made it available to registered developers as a beta version. We plan to release a version that also runs under the iOS 18 beta shortly.
